What a beautiful skink! Are they hard to take care of? I only have experience with iguanas and a few smaller lizards.

No they aren't hard...
They were my first reptiles and they are all fine ;)
but they are very shy...
Mr. Smith is special, he is nearly gentle.
But normaly they aren't.
Leviathan, my other helmet skink, don't leave his hidding places if I'm at home.
I never see him in his terrarium. Sometimes I have a look if he is fine, but I have to search him first.
I have this skink since 1,5 years and nothing have changed.
So maybe, you will have a "empty" terrarium to look in, if you have some T. gracilis ;)
